Seals to be presented to Obama, Michelle

SAPPORO, Japan - Photo of seals depicting U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. Tsutomu Ootera, a seal maker in the city of Chitose, Hokkaido, made the seals, which are 15 millimeters in diameter, from a locally grown tree to celebrate Obama's inauguration as U.S. president. The seals will be presented to Obama and Michelle through the U.S. State Department.

Matsushita to release smallest 3-CCD digital video camera

OSAKA, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. said Sept. 15 it will release what it says is the world's smallest and lightest digital video camera among models using three charge-coupled devices. The SDR-S100 camera for high-quality pictures, to be put on the market in Japan on Oct. 15, is 49.9 by 96.7 by 80.4 millimeters and weighs 242 grams without the battery. Gold coin to be issued to celebrate emperor's enthronement

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows both sides of the 10,000-yen gold coin to be issued to celebrate Emperor Akihito's 10th anniversary of enthronement. One side of the coin, 20 grams in weight and 28 millimeters in diameter, is a design of a Phoenix, and the other side is a chrysanthemum, the emblem of the imperial family. Finance Minister Kiichi Miyazwa on July 13 announced details of the issuance in November. The government will issue 200,000 gold coins and 15 million 500-yen nickel coins.

Sony Marketing to introduce card-sized digital camera

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Marketing (Japan) Inc. will sell a card-sized digital still camera (photo) from April 15. The Cyber-shot DSC-T7, whose thinnest part is 9.8 millimeters, is a 5.1 million pixel camera with a 3X optical zoom lens. The camera will sell for around 55,000 yen. (Kyodo)
